World Cup

June 9 is the opening match for the World Cup!

As in preparation for this great event, I have purchased a stylin' oranje soccer ball from the local sports shop.

Hup Holland!

Bandwagons

The other night, I was called a bandwagon jumper while watching the Anaheim vs Edmonton game. This was over the phone, so they could not see what I was wearing. Being that I have enjoyed Anaheim hockey for the past, oh, 12 years, I was confused as to what bandwagon I had jumped onto. Edmonton, they shouted at me, from over the phone. Sitting in my Ducks jersey, angry at the score (4-0 for Edmonton), I immediately order an air strike and haven't heard from them since.

All I have to say is that to jump on the Edmonton bandwagon is fine. I think every Canadian, or alteast Canadian hockey fan, should be rooting for Edmonton. If Edmonton wins, I will be going for them in the finals to take the cup. But for now, Go Ducks, lets get a win and make it a series.

Cheers to great hockey

Round Two

Alright, Round Two Starts On Friday. I'll provide my picks, and who knows, maybe they will work out.

East

Ottawa Vs Buffalo.
Crazy Series. Too much scoring from both teams. Difference? Goalies. If Miller plays great, Buffalo will win. If he doesn't, and Emery just plays good, Ottawa will win. That being, Ottawa should win, because Miller has just been "ok" so far.
Sens in 6

Carolina Vs New Jersey
Cam Ward vs Martin Brodeur. Brodeur has experience, while Ward has the hot hand. Scoring is about even, even though Elias is on a tear. This could turn out to be great series, but could flop if both teams play a boring defensive system. If Carolina takes drugs and puts Gerber back in, Jersey will win in 4. If not, and they go with Ward, he will just delay the Jersey win.
Devils in 7

West

San Jose Vs Edmonton
I'm a little bias here as I want the Oilers to win. I think they play good, hard, intense hockey and never give up. The Sharts do have Thornton and the Cheechoooooo Train which could change the series, and Marleau has been stepping it up. But I think the Oilers will believe in themselves after knocking off the Red Wings and will come though in the end. Plus, they have Roli. Enough Said.

Colorado Vs Anaheim
My second favourite team is still kicking around, after taking out the Flames in 7. The Ducks have been playing well, and have strong, balanced scoring to give the high scoring Colorado defense trouble. Colorado does have Sakic, who can changed a series on his own. But if the Ducks can stop Jarome, they can stop Sakic. Plus, Nidermayer is the best defenceman in the league.

Woo! Hockey playoffs are great!

What a week!

This years playoff has been fantastic! Great games all around, but the best were the Oil vs. the Wings. Wow, those were intense. Good Job Roli, Good Job Chris, and Good Job rest of the Oil boys, Awesome stuff! Next was the Ducks, beating out the favoured Flames in a 7 game battle. Great series as well. I wonder if those who jumped on the Calgary bandwagon will jump to those close neighbours in Edmonton. We'll see. However, I must give a shout out to my brother David, who, even though he is a Leafs fan and a Canucks fan, has been rooting for the underdog Oilers since our trip to Columbus. While most Leafs fans rooted for Calgary because they were suppose to win, he stayed with those Oil. Good Stuff Bro.

I'm going to wear my Oiler and Ducks jersey proudly after those series.

The only other series that went the wrong way was Montreal. Sadly, they lost in 6 games to the flippin Hurricanes. They tried hard, played well, and just were beated by a pretty good goalie. We'll get em next year, Huet.

And last, but not least, I finished first place in Round 1 of the Hockey Pool. I finished with 70 points, while three others tied with 68. Sure, things will likey go downhill in Round 2, but maybe if I pick better goalies, things might work out. Lets Go Brodeur and Bryzgalov! Killer B's!

Cheers!
