Thank You Habs

Friday night was pretty bad. I'm sitting with a few friends in the unfriendly parts of Guelph, watching as my beloved Knights were trampled and beaten 7-1. If this wasn't bad enough, the beer sure was. Worst beer I have ever tasted....ever. I must say, we had some pretty kickin' seats, 7 rows behind the Knights bench. We were troopers and stayed the entire game, hoping something would break the funk the Knights seemed to be in. Didn't happen.

So rushing back to Waterloo, where my buddy Jason lives, we turned on the Edmonton-Detriot game which was in Overtime. To my dismay, the Red Wings scored a lucky (or weak) goal on Roli, and I watched team number 2 go down. 0 for 2, with one game left. Now, Anaheim vs Calgary is going to be a great series, with good goaltending. But as we started watching the second period, I noticed in the Ducks net that Giguere looked different....almost too different. In fact, it wasn't Giguere at all! It was Ilya, called into action as J.S. has a "lower body" injury. But the ducks managed to hang on, and Bryzgalov was playing pretty well. Not as well as Kipper at the other end, but come on, it's Kipper. He's pretty good. However, Calgary managed to score in overtime and they won the game 2-1. My teams went 0 for 3. Rough night.

But the Montreal Canadiens came to the rescue in fantastic fashion on Saturday night. Playing game one against Carolina, the Canadiens lit up Martin Gerber, scoring 6 times on route to a 6-1 win. Cristobal Huet, Montreals star goalie, made some big saves and ended the night with 43 saves. This got me back on track and I know my teams will come up big and win some games.

The biggest game will be on Sunday, with the Knights facing the Storm at home. I'll be in attendance, and will be looking for a different Knights team to take the ice.

Go Knights Go!
